OUR STORY

Firehouse Infrastructure Alliance was created by firefighters who saw a critical need: the people who protect our communities often work in aging facilities that were never designed to address the health, safety, and operational challenges of today’s emergency response environment.

After years of serving on the front lines, our founder recognized that many fire stations lack the infrastructure needed to properly protect firefighters from exposure to cancer-causing contaminants, maintain operational readiness, and support the health and well-being of the men and women who respond when communities need them most.

Firehouse Infrastructure Alliance works to modernize firehouses through critical infrastructure improvements, including firefighter health and safety upgrades, decontamination improvements, ventilation enhancements, and facility repairs. We believe that protecting firefighters means investing in the environments where they live, train, and prepare to serve.

Our mission extends beyond firehouse improvements. We are also developing workforce pathways that create opportunities for individuals from underserved communities to pursue careers in the fire service through training, mentorship, physical ability preparation, and career guidance.

At its core, Firehouse Infrastructure Alliance exists to protect those who protect us and to build stronger, safer, and more resilient communities.

Mission Statement

Firehouse Infrastructure Alliance’s mission is to protect those who protect us by improving firefighter health, safety, and operational readiness through critical firehouse infrastructure improvements, while creating equitable pathways to public safety careers through training, mentorship, and workforce development opportunities for underserved communities.

Background Statement

Firehouse Infrastructure Alliance was founded by career firefighters who recognized a growing need to better protect the people who protect our communities. After years of frontline service, our founders witnessed the challenges created by aging firehouse facilities, inadequate health and safety infrastructure, and the evolving demands placed on today’s emergency responders. FIA was established to address these critical gaps and build stronger support systems for the firefighters and communities we serve.

Impact Statement

Firehouse Infrastructure Alliance creates lasting impact by strengthening the systems that support those who serve our communities. Through investments in safer, healthier firehouses and expanded access to public safety career pathways, FIA helps reduce barriers, improve firefighter wellness, enhance emergency response readiness, and create opportunities for individuals to build meaningful careers serving others. Our work strengthens both the people on the front lines and the communities that depend on them.

Needs Statement

Firefighters are increasingly exposed to health risks while working in aging facilities that were not designed to address today’s emergency response challenges. Many firehouses lack the infrastructure needed to support proper decontamination, ventilation, and firefighter wellness. At the same time, many aspiring firefighters face barriers to accessing training, mentorship, and career preparation. Firehouse Infrastructure Alliance exists to address these critical gaps.
