OUR STORY
In 1965, the University of California, Irvine was founded with a mission to catalyze the community and enhance lives through bold education, transformative research and purpose-driven service. Needs Statement
The University of California, Irvine (UCI) is a nationally recognized public research institution committed to educational access, innovation, and community impact. To sustain its growth and excellence, UCI faces five critical needs. First, increased financial aid and scholarships are needed to support low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students. Second, affordable student housing remains a significant challenge due to rising Orange County housing costs and limited availability. Third, continued investment in research infrastructure, advanced technologies, and faculty support is essential to maintain UCI's competitiveness in emerging fields. Fourth, expanded mental health and wellness services are needed to address growing student demand. Finally, strengthening workforce development, internships, and community partnerships will better prepare graduates for high-demand careers while advancing regional economic and social well-being.

Statement from the Board Chair/President
Message from Chad T. Lefteris, President & CEO
At UCI Health, our values are not just words – they are a reflection of the people who bring them to life each day. They were shaped by the voices of our co-workers, drawing on their experiences, ideas and aspirations.
Because they came from within, these values capture what makes UCI Health unique – our commitment to exceptional care, respect for one another and dedication to shaping the future of healthcare for the communities we serve.
You can see these values in action every day – in the way we connect with each person, take ownership of our work and come together to create what is next. And when we face uncertainty or come to a fork in the road, our values serve as a compass, guiding us with clarity and confidence in the choices we make.
They are more than a set of statements – they remind us how to care for our patients, support each other and build tomorrow together.
Let us continue to bring these values to life.
