Thrive: Youth Wellness Fair
THRIVE: Youth Wellness Fair is a free, all-ages community wellness fair held annually in north Orange County. The 2026 fair takes place Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Eisenhower Park in Seal Beach, and serves as the local kickoff to National Red Ribbon Week. The fair brings together 25-30 partner agencies across four areas: substance-use prevention, mental health and wellness, youth leadership, and community partnerships. Families visit resource booths, take part in hands-on activities, and hear short presentations from local organizations and student speakers. Attendance is free, and participation is free for every organization — no booth fee and no sponsorship expectation. What distinguishes THRIVE is that it is planned and run by high school students. Students recruit the partner agencies, design the programming, moderate the panels and staff the activity stations, with adult experts alongside them as the factual backstop. The premise is simple: prevention information lands differently coming from a peer, and it also has to be accurate — so the two have to happen together. Partners for 2026 include Rady Children's Health/CHOC, the American Red Cross, Second Harvest Food Bank, Impact Teen Drivers, The Youth Center and the Orange County Department of Education. The Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce holds the event permits and carries liability coverage. Student volunteers earn documented service hours.
Targets for the 2026 fair:
500–1,000 attendees, primarily families from Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, Rossmoor and surrounding communities
25–30 partner agencies hosting free resource booths across the four focus areas
250–350 youth attendees reached directly with prevention and wellness information
40+ student volunteers in leadership roles, each earning documented service hours
Every attending family leaves with at least one concrete resource — a local organization they can contact, a skill practiced on site, or bilingual materials they can use at home
We measure success through attendance counts, partner-reported booth engagement, and a short post-event survey of both families and partner agencies. Partner retention year over year is our primary indicator that the model works.
Longer-term, the fair is intended to seed an ongoing network: organizations that meet each other at THRIVE continue to refer families to one another after the day ends.
