The UC Irvine Foundation works to realize the brilliant future referenced in UC Irvine’s strategic plan by mobilizing support, creating partnerships and offering transformative guidance. The mission of the UC Irvine Foundation is to raise and manage private funds to support UC Irvine’s broader mission of excellence in teaching, research and public service.
Mission Statement
The mission of the UCI Foundation is to raise and manage private funds to support UCI’s broader mission of excellence in teaching, research and public service.
To this end, the UCI Foundation advises university leadership in all areas related to public trust, investments and philanthropy; mobilizes existing and potential supporters to help grow the university’s endowment; and engages with appropriate stakeholders to advance fundraising efforts aligned with the university’s strategic plan. The UCI Foundation also aims to build stronger networks of support around deans, directors and health leaders to advance UCI’s contributions to the region; engages with the schools, units and departments in strategic advisory and advocacy roles; and facilitates regional and global partnerships that expand UCI’s capacity to improve lives.
Background Statement
In 1965, the University of California, Irvine was founded with a mission to catalyze the community and enhance lives through rigorous academics, cutting-edge research, and dedicated public service. Today, we draw on the unyielding spirit of our pioneering faculty, staff and students who arrived on campus with a dream to inspire change and generate new ideas. Impact Statement
Money magazine ranked UCI the 3rd best college in the nation.The New York Times named UCI No. 1 among U.S. universities "doing the most for the American dream" in its 2017 and 2015 College Access Index. The ranking measures economic diversity based on several factors: the share of students receiving Pell Grants (which typically go to families making less than $70,000 a year); the graduation rate of those students; the net cost, after financial aid, that a college charges low- and middle-income students; and endowment per student.UCI is ranked 7th best public university in the nation and 33rd when private universities are added to the mix, according to the annual U.S. News & World Report "America's Best Colleges" survey.
