Adaptive Gymnastics Program
Our year-round program is an introduction to recreational gymnastics beginner level classes for students ages: 4-15. Us Too Gym's specially designed program works with students with autism and other disabilities, to help them achieve their highest potential. The adaptive program is tailored to meet the needs of each individual, making sure the student can benefit from the services provided. And because of our small student to coach ratio, we are better equipped to handle behavioral, social and physical challenges. Goals for this program are: skill progression, behavior modification, increase social interaction and group participation.
The program's outcome is measured by two things: 1. The number of students enrolled in the program and the length of enrollment. And 2. By the physical improvement each individual student presents over their enrollment period.
Enrollment has been consistent for the last three years, leaving very little room to accommodate those families on the waitlist. About 70% of our student population has been enrolled in our program for more than two years. And from this percentage, about 25% of families, have been enrolled for more than five consecutive years.
Currently, about 80% of those students with a disability enrolled in our adaptive program, report significant physical improvement. Other benefits reported by parents are: more self confidence while exploring community playgrounds, and less anxious behaviors about class participation.
Summer Camp for students with disabilities
A week long summer camp offered once per month during the summer months (June and July). Campers will meet for three hours during a five day period to have the opportunity to experience a summer camp just like neurotypical peers do. Activities during camp include: gymnastics, athletic games, a social outing on the last day, arts and crafts and, fun games with peers. Students will benefit from peer interaction supervised by gym staff.
Parents can experience vital peace of mind and temporary relief from continuous caregiving, knowing their child is in a safe, structured, and specialized environment.
All participants will benefit from having the opportunity to be part of a summer camp where their needs are not only met but understood. Camp environments consistently reduce anxiety symptoms and isolation-related behaviors. Because campers are surrounded by a diverse peer group, they report a powerful sense of peer belonging, feeling deeply understood rather than viewed as the "exception".
