Community and School Based Mental Health Services
In partnership with Capistrano Unified School District, WPC provides services at four high schools and four middle schools. Students from schools without on-site services can access support at the community clinic in San Clemente or at allcove San Juan Capistrano. Clinical services are not billed to insurance. The center accepts donations for services and is supported by grants and a contract with the Capistrano Unified School District. Clinical services are provided in English, Spanish, and Farsi. Therapists use various techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques, acceptance and commitment therapy, and motivational interviewing to help youth problem-solve and develop skills for managing stressors The most common reasons for seeking clinical support are anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders related to life transitions.
Last fiscal year, we provided 2,500+ mental health sessions to 362 students across south Orange County.
On average, 150 young people per week receive mental health support from WPC staff.
allcove San Juan Capistrano
By joining the network of allcove projects across California we are creating a new system to protect our most valuable resource – young people. Putting resources young people need to succeed in one center is part of an innovative system of care that helps youth prioritize their mental and physical health while building life skills for a positive future. allcove centers are designed with, by and for youth, with the wisdom that we all just need a moment to reset before we can move forward. They are places for youth to access a range of emotional, physical and social support services—on their own terms. The allcove approach is anchored in a model that focuses on meeting the evolving and unique needs of young people and those who support them. Each center uses this integrated approach with room to reflect the specific needs of local youth and community. allcove San Juan Capistrano is a safe, welcoming, and innovative space designed by youth, for youth. This drop-in center serves as a vital hub in south Orange County, providing mild to moderate level support that addresses the entire individual. Mental health support, career and academic support, prevention education, life skills, and family support all work to empower youth on their journey to well-being and healthy futures.
