PROGRAMS

Steps to Independence

Our core program, Steps to Independence, is a bridge and rapid rehousing program where unaccompanied adult women experiencing homelessness are connected to supportive services and housing solutions. The program not only provides safe shelter and nourishment, but also a place where a woman can come to heal the traumas that caused her homelessness, such as domestic violence, sexual assault, substance use, incarceration histories, human trafficking, or a major financial or familial loss. Women in our program are led through The WISEPlace Way, a solutions-based program that includes: SAFE SHELTER – shelter, clothing, and healthy meals; CASE MANAGEMENT & COUNSELING – 1:1 case manager, licensed counselors, and psychiatric support; GOAL CREATION – setting goals toward a path of personal stability; EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE – resume development, job coaching, interview preparation, and professional clothing; SOCIALIZATION – variety of activities to promote socialization and overall well-being; HEALTH & WELLNESS – proactive support to stabilize health and wellness and to secure access to medical services; ADDICTION RECOVERY – interactive support groups, led by a licensed facilitator, to overcome addiction (e.g., drugs, alcohol, gambling, over-eating); FINANCIAL PLANNING -- financial literacy, budgeting, personal savings, and taxes; HOUSING ASSISTANCE – building a housing plan backed by supportive resources like rental deposits, moving fees and home furnishings; GRADUATION – into sustained housing and personal self-reliance.
