Banking on Your Success
Banking on Your Success (BYS) is a 6-week training program offered by CORCDC, designed to support minority-owned business owners. The program focuses on creating pathways to access capital, as well as providing coaching and technical assistance. BYS is part of CORCDC’s broader entrepreneurship development strategy, aimed at empowering entrepreneurs from low-to-moderate income backgrounds to achieve financial self-reliance and grow job-creating businesses. After completion of program, participants are eligible for micro-grants from COR CDC and/or our partner organizations. This program has 2-3 Cohorts during the year.
Banking on Your Success measurements and social impact:
-Over 400 training participants since 2017 (Approximately 20% were Irvine businesses)
-21 participants/business owners have been matched with business loans totaling over $700,000
-26% reported increase in learning (measured through Pre/Post Assessments)
-92% of participants come from low-to-moderate income families
-88% of participants identify as African American or Hispanic
S.T.E.A.M. Education / Wrise Booker Summer Enrichment Academy (SEA)
Serving youth in Orange County and across Southern California, COR CDC’s main focus is to redefine the way students experience and personalize education while paving a pathway for BiPOC students to fill the gap in S.T.E.A.M. based careers. All classes are focused on holistically enriching the lives of youth through character development, education, community service and self discovery. This is also incorporated into the Wrise Booker Summer Enrichment Academy.

--65% of students increased by 1 grade level in mathematics and English
--2,000 hours of STEAM education: drone flight, coding basics, python programming, hydraulics, stem cell research, civic engineering & mechanical engineering
--1,500 hours of financial literacy concepts in savings and budgeting
--Our new Video Game Animation program
---59% increase in algebra competency
---67% developed interest in computer science/engineering
-Wrise Booker SEA included Algebra institute in collaboration with Cal State Fullerton
-80% of students from low income and/or Black, Hispanic, and API communities
Civic Engagement and Real Talk: Inclusive Dialogue Series
We empower the communities we serve with the tools and resources needed to drive meaningful change. -Real Talk: Inclusive Dialogue Series -Town Hall Meetings -Voter Registration efforts -Partnering with local, state, and national organizations on actions to bridge the inequity gap and social/racial justice -Training the next generation of Community Leaders -Equity Data Collection -Press Conferences

COR CDC Young Entrepreneur Academy (YEA)
Our YEA is a 6-week training program aimed at providing financial literacy and promoting youth entrepreneurship in underserved communities. The program empowers young middle and high school students from low to moderate income backgrounds to understand the fundamentals of banking, credit, budgeting, and entrepreneurship. Participants learn about: finances banking savings credit budgeting business formation and structure business plan development operations and marketing Each class culminates in a public pitch competition event where finalists present their business ideas to a panel of business leaders for a chance to win a start-up grants. The program offers 3 cohorts (Spring, Summer, and Fall).
The outcome/impact of the YEA:
• over 350 participants throughout the years
• 98% of participants are from low-to-moderate income households
• 80% of participants stated they are pursuing higher education
• Tuition-assistance grants totaling $500,000 were awarded to high school/college students
