Cypress College Foundation
OUR STORY
Mission Statement
The Cypress College Foundation advances student success by cultivating donor relationships, developing community partnerships, and securing resources for scholarships, emergency assistance, and college programs.
Background Statement
The Cypress College Foundation is a leader in community college philanthropy. Since 1972 it has provided Cypress College with private support, serving as the vehicle through which individuals and organizations may invest in the college and its students. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Foundation provides nearly one million dollars annually to support students through scholarships, emergency assistance, and other critical college programs. The Cypress College Foundation fuels the excellence of Cypress College by engaging the community, building relationships, and inviting the generosity of donors. The resources raised and managed by the Foundation enrich college programs, remove barriers, and empower students to succeed as they prepare for careers, transfer to four-year universities, and pursue lifelong learning goals.
Impact Statement
During the 2025–2026 academic year, the Cypress College Foundation will invest more than $1 million in scholarships, emergency assistance, and programmatic support to remove barriers to student success and expand educational opportunities across campus. These funds help students persist through financial challenges, complete their educational goals, and prepare for meaningful careers, while strengthening the programs and services that Cypress College offers. Through the generosity of donors and community partners, the Foundation impacts thousands of students' lives by creating pathways to achievement, workforce readiness, and economic opportunity.
Needs Statement
According to the 2023 Real College Survey, 36% of the 1,259 Cypress College students surveyed indicated that they have experienced food insecurity, and 50% indicated that they have experienced housing insecurity. In Fall 2025, the Charger Book Pass, a program which covered the cost of textbooks for students, was phased out due to a reduction in federal funds. This reduction in textbook funds placed an additional financial burden of up to $1,000 per semester on students, according to Cypress College’s estimated cost of attendance. For students working towards their degree or certificate, the cost of living can present a real barrier to academic achievement. These barriers can be alleviated through scholarships, emergency assistance, and programs supported by the Foundation.
