OUR STORY

Human Works Foundation is a Southern California nonprofit helping youth and young adults, veterans, and underserved community members overcome barriers and build brighter futures.

Through hands-on training, workforce development, career support, and community resources, we help people gain the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to move toward employment, independence, and long-term stability.

We believe everyone has potential. Sometimes all it takes is the right opportunity, the right support, and someone willing to believe in you.

Together, we’re building pathways forward.

Mission Statement

We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Human Works Foundation connects people with the resources, support, and opportunities they need to overcome barriers and create meaningful change in their lives.

From veterans and young people to women, and anyone facing challenges, we provide compassionate guidance, education, career development, vocational support, and community- base resources that help people move forward with confidence

Background Statement

Human Works Foundation began in 2015 as the Workforce Technician Education Center (WTEC), founded by Donald Langston to expand access to vocational education and empower individuals to pursue sustainable, rewarding careers in the construction and service industries. In 2017, Megan Langston transitioned from a successful career in luxury fashion and beauty to the nonprofit sector, bringing a renewed commitment to addressing employment barriers and creating pathways to economic opportunity. Inspired by her family’s deep roots in the skilled trades, Megan envisioned an organization that would go beyond workforce training to create lasting change for individuals and communities. In 2018, this vision led to the transformation of WTEC into Human Works Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals facing barriers to employment through skills development, career readiness, and access to meaningful career opportunities. At its core, Human Works Foundation believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to rebuild their lives, achieve financial independence, and contribute to their communities. By connecting vocational training with purpose-driven support and workforce opportunities, the Foundation strives to break down barriers, strengthen communities, and create pathways to long-term stability, self-sufficiency, and a brighter future.

Impact Statement

In 2025, Human Works Foundation continued its mission to empower youth, veterans, and underserved communities by breaking down barriers to opportunity and creating pathways to employment, stability, and self-sufficiency. Throughout the year, we provided direct and indirect services to 2,367 individuals, offering workforce training, job readiness support, personalized assistance, and connections to essential community resources. Through our RISE UP Pre-Vocational Training program, 50 participants earned a nationally recognized NRF Customer Service & Sales credential, with 98% of those who took the certification exam successfully passing. Our Job Readiness Training also supported 26 transitional-age youth, with 17 completing the program and earning a Human Works Foundation certificate. Beyond direct services, we strengthened community partnerships, supported organizations serving veterans and underserved populations, and helped connect 197 veterans and military families with food assistance and support services during the Thanksgiving season. These accomplishments reflect our commitment to meeting people where they are, expanding access to meaningful opportunities, and helping individuals build the skills, confidence, and support systems needed for lasting change. At Human Works Foundation, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to move forward, and we remain dedicated to building stronger communities through compassion, collaboration, and purpose-driven workforce development.

Statement from the CEO/Executive Director

At Human Works Foundation, we believe everyone deserves to feel valued, supported, and empowered to build a brighter future. No matter what challenges someone has faced, there is always an opportunity for a fresh start and a chance to thrive.

Throughout my journey with Human Works Foundation, I have witnessed the incredible strength and potential of the individuals we serve. From veterans beginning a new chapter, to youth seeking a different path, to women striving for independence and individuals rebuilding their lives after incarceration, I am continually reminded of what is possible when people are given the right support and a genuine opportunity to succeed.

People deserve to be seen for who they are and what they can become, not defined by their past. Sometimes, having someone believe in you, offer guidance, and help you access the right resources can make all the difference.

Yet, building a better future often requires more than finding a job. Many individuals also need access to housing, practical training, essential resources, and continued support. As these needs grow, we remain committed to meeting people where they are and walking alongside them as they work toward stability and independence.

You can be part of that journey. By supporting Human Works Foundation, you help open doors, restore hope, and create meaningful opportunities for individuals to build lives filled with dignity, confidence, and purpose. Every donation, partnership, and act of generosity helps us break down barriers and strengthen the communities we serve.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in our mission and the people behind it. Together, we can continue changing lives, one person and one opportunity at a time.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Megan Langston
