October Domestic Violence Awareness Month – A Home for a New Beginning
Every October, Make It Your Home recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness Month by raising awareness and providing essential home furnishings to survivors of domestic violence and their children as they rebuild their lives. For survivors escaping abuse, securing safe housing is only the first step. Many leave behind everything they own and face the overwhelming financial burden of starting over. Through our A Home for a New Beginning initiative, we transform empty housing into fully furnished, welcoming homes at no cost to survivors, providing beds, sofas, dining tables, kitchen essentials, and other household necessities. Program Goals: Help domestic violence survivors and their children establish safe, stable, and comfortable homes. Eliminate the financial burden of purchasing essential furniture. Partner with domestic violence shelters, community organizations, and advocates to reach families in need. Raise community awareness and encourage donations, sponsorships, and volunteer involvement throughout October. Your Support Changes Lives Every donation helps turn an empty space into a place of safety, healing, and hope. Together, we can help survivors move beyond abuse and begin a new chapter with dignity, stability, and a place to truly call home.
With a budget of $10,000, Make It Your Home's Domestic Violence Awareness Month initiative aims to provide fully furnished homes for 3–4 families escaping domestic violence, helping survivors and their children begin a new chapter in a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment.
Through this program, we expect to:
Provide 3–4 families with essential furniture and household necessities at no cost.
Support approximately 8–15 individuals, including women and children rebuilding their lives after abuse.
Eliminate thousands of dollars in furnishing expenses, allowing families to focus their limited resources on housing, food, and other essential needs.
Promote housing stability and independence by creating functional, welcoming homes that support long-term recovery.
Raise awareness about domestic violence and engage community members, donors, and volunteers in supporting survivors.
Our goal is to turn a $10,000 investment into lasting change, giving survivors more than furniture—a sense of safety, dignity, stability, and hope for a brighter future.
Every home we furnish represents a family moving forward and an opportunity to break the cycle of crisis.
November Veterans Day Program – A Home for Our Heroes
In honor of Veterans Day, Make It Your Home is launching A Home for Our Heroes, a special November initiative dedicated to supporting veterans and military families transitioning out of homelessness, financial hardship, and other challenging circumstances. Our veterans have dedicated their lives to serving our country, and we believe they deserve a safe, comfortable, and welcoming place to call home. Many veterans transitioning into permanent housing lack the financial resources to purchase essential furniture and household necessities. Through this program, Make It Your Home transforms empty housing into fully furnished homes at no cost, providing beds, sofas, dining tables, kitchen essentials, and everything needed to create a functional and comfortable living environment. Working alongside veteran support organizations, military advocates, and community partners, we aim to restore dignity, promote independence, and provide a fresh start for those who have served our nation.
With a budget of $7,500, Make It Your Home aims to achieve the following:
2 fully furnished homes for veterans or military families.
100% of essential furnishings provided at no cost to the recipients.
Approximately $3,750 invested per home, covering furniture transportation, household essentials, and home setup expenses.
Improved housing stability and quality of life by creating safe, comfortable, and functional living environments.
Increased community involvement through volunteer participation, furniture donations, and partnerships with veteran support organizations.
Your Support Makes a Difference
Our veterans have given so much in service to our country. This Veterans Day, we have an opportunity to give something meaningful back—a place where they can feel safe, comfortable, and truly at home.
With your support, we can transform two empty houses into homes filled with dignity, comfort, and hope.
Because every hero deserves a place to call home.
